Anurag Kashyap has been actively promoting his most recent film, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat.  The director-producer lauded Govinda in a recent interview with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia and claimed Kader Khan wasn't given enough credit. He also discussed his bond with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Kashyap about the late actor and writer Kader Khan: “He was a genius. I don’t know why he did not get a Lifetime Achievement Award. He did not get his due from the industry, a lot of people were not given their due, and he is one of them. They have forgotten about him; he has written everything. You open his IMDb page, and start looking at his credits.”

Khan's acting skills were then praised by Kashyap, who added, "And what performances he gave! His range of acting was immense, it was at par with Govinda. He then went on to say that here, a Lifetime Achievement Award is only given to a few actors and filmmakers. People never remember those who do not leave a legacy in the form of descendants.

In his lifetime, Kader Khan acted in more than 300 films. He was also a renowned screenwriter who wrote films from Coolie to Coolie No 1. Khan worked as a professor of civil engineering at Mumbai's Saboo Siddik College of Engineering before breaking into show business in the 1970s. On December 31st, 2018, he died.

The filmmaker then talked about his bond with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He stated that for a while, their friendship had been tested by one of Anurag's articles on the Bhansali film Black. “He hated Dev D. He said I had ruined his Chandramukhi and Paaro. He said it to Vikramaditya Motwane, who used to be his assistant. And I remember I wrote something about Black, which he did not like. He thought I was his enemy, which I am not. I love him. I didn’t like Black, and I did not believe it. But we were good friends before that happened. And now we have turned friends again. That ice has been broken again, by me; I went to him.”

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap's recent directorial, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat stars Vicky Kaushal, Ketan Mehta and Alaya F.
