They say that fame and fortune is not constant for anyone, esp. in Bollywood. This saying cannot be more true than in the case of Adah Sharma. After having debuted with the Vikram Bhatt starrer ‘1920’, Adah Sharma was almost there... still not there. Even though she did not restrict herself to mere Bollywood, she also spread her wings in the southern film industry as well. There were films like ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, the ‘Commando’ series which worked at the box-office, but Adah Sharma was still yearning for the top slot. Then came the ‘iconic date’ of 5 May 2023, which saw the release of ‘The Kerala Story’. Within minutes of the trailer release of the film, both, the film, as well as Adah Sharma started trending and how! Even though controversy regarding the figures started hounding the film, that did not stop the film from registering impressive figures at the box-office.

The film has now got people divided. While on one hand, there are a few states who have declared the film as tax-free, there are a few states which have banned the film. There are also celebrities who have started giving their opinion about the film. The latest one to join in support of ‘The Kerala Story’ is the filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Recently, he took to social media and posted stating, ‘You agree with the film or not, be it propaganda, counter propaganda, offensive or not, to ban it is just wrong'. In another tweet, he posted, ‘You want to fight propaganda. Then go in numbers and see the film that talks against misuse of social media and how inherent prejudice is weaponised to create hatred and unrest. It’s running in cinemas and is called “Afwaah”. Go make your voice stronger. Go make a point. That’s the right way to fight’. He also posted a poster which had a quote by the French philosopher Voltaire.the quote read as, ‘I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.’
