SS Rajamouli is undoubtedly the man of the moment—with his film RRR’s song Naatu Naatu nominated under the Best Original Song category for Oscars 2023—and the entire film industry couldn’t be prouder of all that the ace director has achieved thus far. And the latest celebrity to acknowledge his long list of accomplishments is none other than Anurag Kashyap.
In his latest interview with News18, Anurag Kashyap praised SS Rajamouli for his determination and perseverance. Kashyap also lauded the South Indian film industry for being ‘grounded’, before adding that RRR is all about the ability of telling a story skillfully and also caters to the taste of global audience.
Anurag Kashyap also said that the Oscar-nominated song Naatu Naatu is a visually treat and works best for being ‘rooted’.
Speaking about the fact that Naatu Naatu was shot in Ukraine for 12 days straight, Anurag Kashyap said that he would have given up if a song sequence took that long. “It’s so hard to pull [something like that] off. I would give up right there thinking that shooting for a song sequence would take me so many number of days. And here’s a director who pursues a sequence and takes as many days as required to shoot it! That takes a lot of vision, courage and nerves of steel. And that has translated,” Kashyap told News18.
Anurag Kashyap also said that filmmakers in the West are trying to be SS Rajamouli now, saying, “Everybody in the West is trying to reach out to Rajamouli now. He’s the kind of filmmaker who can make a massive difference. He’s like the perfect director for a DC or a Marvel film. Conversations about collaborations between India and the West have been going on for a very long time. But with SS Rajamouli, it wouldn’t be a collaboration. What will happen is that they will steal him from us.”
