Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is the first big success of 2023. The movie broke box office records after just five days of release. It has earned more than Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office so far. It's reasonable to assume that the Siddharth Anand film has put a stop to Bollywood's slump at the box office. In a recent interview, director Anurag Kashyap discussed the phenomenal success of Pathaan, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The director referred to Shah Rukh as "the man with the strongest spine" when discussing the same.
In an interview with Mid Day, Anurag Kashyap heaped praise on Shah Rukh Khan. He said, "The man with the strongest spine, the most resilience and integrity, who has kept quiet through everything, he has spoken. He has spoken onscreen with his work. It is beautiful. He spoke loudly on screen. I understand what he teaches, ‘Speak with your work, and don't talk unnecessarily'. He is who he is and you can see why."
The filmmaker also reacted to the blockbuster success of Pathaan and said, "People are coming back to the cinema and people are coming back and dancing on screen. People are euphoric about the movie. There is euphoria and this euphoria is beautiful. This euphoria was missing. This euphoria is also socio-political euphoria, it is like making a statement."
In the meantime, Anurag's upcoming movie is Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat. Vicky Kaushal, Alaya F, and Karan Mehta have prominent roles in the movie, which is billed as a love musical. The date of release is set for February 3, 2023.
On the other hand, SRK has two major films scheduled for release this year. The next film starring the superstar will be Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki. Taapsee Pannu also appears in it. Along with Nayanthara, Sunil Grover, and Sanya Malhotra, he also has Jawan. The film is helmed by Atlee. Both films are slated to release this year.
