The film was premiered at the prestigious film festival
Best known for his ‘out-of-the-box’ kind of films, Anurag Kashyap is now ready with his latest offering ‘Kennedy’. The film stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the lead role. The film sees Rahul Bhat playing the titular role of Kennedy and Sunny Leone playing the role of Charlie. After being showcased at Festival De Cannes 2023’s ‘Midnight Screenings’ (from May 16-27), Kennedy was screened at the Sydney Film Festival on May 24. The film, which happens to be a police noir film, received a 7-minute standing ovation at The Grand Lumiere Theatre. It is the same venue where the much-talked about film was screened today (Thursday) at 12:15 a.m. (France local time).
As per an IANS news report, Anurag Kashyap, while talking about his film being screened at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, said: "It's always special to show your film to the world at Cannes and it's a lifetime moment to play at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Kennedy is a very special film to me and extremely personal too. We have put our heart and soul into making this film. The 7-minute-long standing ovation from the audience has made me full of gratitude. I am very grateful and excited at the same time."
On the other hand, IANS had also reported about Sunny Leone (who plays the female lead in the film ‘Kennedy’) saying, "I am thrilled to make my Cannes debut with 'Kennedy' being screened here. It's only a dream few actors get to live, and I take a lot of pride in being a part of such a prestigious event. I cannot wait to see how the global audience reacts.”
As far as the film’s story plot is concerned, it mirrors the life story of an insomniac cop seeking redemption while dwelling in various circumstances. Besides Rahul Bhatt and Sunny Leone, the Anurag Kashyap directed film ‘Kennedy’ also stars Megha Burman, Abhilash Thapliyal and Mohit Takalkar in important roles.
