A month after its theatrical debut, Tovino Thomas's investigative thriller Anweshippin Kandethum has made its way to a popular digital platform, putting an end to the anticipation of the actor's fans. The film will be available to stream on Netflix starting today (March 8). Debutante Darwin Kuriakose has directed this movie, which hit the big screen on February 9.
The film begins with sub-inspector Anand Narayanan and his team being suspended after the investigation into a woman's disappearance has tragic consequences for everyone involved. A murder case, which also happens to be their chance at redemption, is assigned to them months later in a remote region. The central question of the movie is whether they will be burdened by the results of their earlier investigation or if they have gained enough insight to see through their quest for truth.
The scriptwriter for the movie, Jinu Abraham, who has written films like Prithviraj Suku maran's Adam Joan and Kaduva, stated in an interview with OTTplay that the plot of the movie is influenced by a number of real-life events. It takes place in 1993, a time when law enforcement had to rely solely on their investigative abilities because there was not as much technology available to catch offenders.
The director had enlisted some of the top technicians for the film, including composer Santhosh Narayanan, editor Saiju Sreedharan, and cinematographer Girish Gangadharan. Yoodle Films and Theatre of Dreams bankrolled the movie.
Over the course of 75 days, the team shot for Anweshippin Kandethum in various regions of Kottayam, Thodupuzha, Kattapana, and Kochi.
In addition to Anweshippin Kandethum, several other Malayalam films that are scheduled for release in February will also be available digitally. SonyLiv will begin streaming Mammootty's Bramayugam on March 15. By the end of this month, the Naslen and Mamitha Baiju-starrer Premalu is also anticipated to be released on an OTT platform.
