Helmed by Darwin Kuriakose, Anweshippin Kandethum is slated to hit the big screens on February 9
The much-awaited teaser for Tovino Thomas' Malayalam film Anweshippin Kandethum is finally here. The trailer for the investigative thriller, directed by Darwin Kuriakose, opens with the murder of a woman. The visuals shift to a series of shots of a police station, with Tovino’s character playing a cop who appears to be in distress over the strange murders taking place. The teaser then takes us through the actor investigating the case with the title, ‘To unravel the truth, with the power of 400, a force of four'. The teaser ends with the title Anweshippin Kandethum and a scene in which Tovino reads a tiny card with an intense look.
What is interesting about the teaser is that there are no dialogues. The makers have clearly done a good job at concealing vital details about the film and keeping interest in it high by not giving away much in the teaser. Set in a hilly region, the teaser might seem underwhelming due to a cliche crime thriller genre; however, Anweshippin Kandethum promises to be more than just a crime thriller.
At first glance, the teaser is reminiscent of classic crime thrillers, with a cop finding it hard to crack a series of crimes. This leads him to take things in his own hands. Anweshippin Kandethum does remind one of Mammootty's Kannur Squad since both investigative thrillers revolve around four cops. Interestingly, Anweshippin Kandethum is based on two significant crimes that had a huge impact on the state of Kerala and the subsequent investigations that, in this film, are led by Tovino's character, who is a dedicated police officer.
The teaser gives us a promising glimpse into the intriguing thriller and it's definitely a treat to watch Tovino in khaki after the 2019 crime action film Kalki.
Sharing the new teaser on social media, Tovino wrote, “Setting the digital world ablaze, take a glimpse into the world of #AnweshippinKandethum !!”
