Satyajit Ray is one of the most renowned filmmakers of all time in the country. His first film, Pather Panchali won 11 international awards and is often studied by film students. His life and debut film will once again be translated onto the screen by Anik Dutta.
The project titled Aparajito is partly based on Satyajit Ray's experiences creating his seminal debut film. The cast includes Jeetu Kamal as Aparajito Ray, a fictional director whose idea Pather Podaboli is brought to life. Bimola Roy, a character inspired by Ray's wife Bijoya Ray, will be played by actress Saayoni Ghosh. Fans have been excited about the movie ever since it was announced. And now, makers have released the poster of the film, which has gotten the town talking.
On Facebook, director Anik Dutta shared the poster for his upcoming movie Aparajito. In the poster, Kamal is pictured holding a vintage Arriflex 35 camera and smoking a cigarette in Ray's way. A painting in the background depicts an iconic passage from the epic drama, Pather Panchali, with Apu and Durga sprinting to catch their first sight of a train.
Kamal's appearance as Ray has caused quite a stir on social media. Everyone applauded Somnath Kundu, the makeup artist who excels in prosthetics, for Kamal’s look. There was excitement in Tollypara at first when he spotted actor Jitu Kamal dressed as Satyajit Ray. The striking similarity of Jeetu Kamal's features to Satyajit Ray has startled the internet. Since then, there has been a surge in interest in this film as well, among audiences.
The film Aparajito is largely based on Satyajit Ray's journey to make his seminal debut film Pather Panchali (1955). Anik Dutt tells the tale behind the creation of that picture. The identities of the individuals and the specifics of the occurrence have been modified by the director. The director created the movie as a tribute to the renowned filmmaker.
The film is reportedly scheduled for a release in May.
