Rasu Ranjith directed Theethum Nandram is set to start streaming on regional OTT platform Simply South from June 4. Rasu is also part of the film as the lead protagonist along with Aparna Balamurali and Lijomol Jose. The Tamil action-drama film was released in theatres earlier this year on 12th March. The movie has been widely appreciated for its emotional and engaging characterisation.
The director-actor was also the title winner of Kalaignar TV’s prominent reality show Naalaya Iyakkunar season 5, which was a talent hunt show for developing and talented filmmakers. Aparna Balamurali and Lijomol Jose became a part of the film after the director had spotted their performances in 2016’s Malayalam movie, Maheshinte Prathikaaram.
Both the actresses had signed Theethum Nandram as their first film, but due to the delay in the film’s release, the movie, which should have been their debut, was never considered as one. Aparna Balamurali rose to fame after her pivotal role in Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru.
The Tamil movie Theethum Nandram revolves around three burglars Dass (Eesan), Siva (Rasu Ranjith) and Maaran (Sandeep Raj), who always manage to escape the clutches of the law. While Dass gets married to Sumathi (Aparna Balamurali), Siva is in love with Thamizh (Lijomol Jose). One fine day, Sumathi, who is aware of Dass’s background and what he does, informs him that she is pregnant and requests him to quit his illegal endeavours. Dass doesn’t accept her request and secretly gangs up with his friends in a robbery. He is thrown in jail on the charges of theft. Dass and Siva’s lives are in shambles post the robbery incident. Eventually, they turn against each other, which also has a tragic backstory to look out for.
