Srijit Mukherji’s X=Prem has failed to impress the box office numbers. However, the futuristic love story that features Arjun Chakrabarty, Madhurima Basak, Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Dad has managed to impress several critics from different corners. On Saturday, filmmaker Aparna Sen took to her social media to praise the film and the director claimed it to be his ‘badge of honour’.
In her post, Aparna praised the creation of the film. She congratulated cinematographer Subhankar Bhar for his camera work. She appreciated the black and white rendition of the film. She further added that the effort was not to capture a specific time frame or not to portray any intellectual element but simply to tell a love story in black and white portrayal.
Aparna Sen’s latest film, The Rapist, which features Konkona Sen Sharma and Arjun Rampal in the lead, has recently bagged the Kim Jiseok Award at the 26th Busan International Film Festival 2021. The film was also screened at the 27th Kolkata International Film festival.
Srijit’s X=Prem is a love story laden with sci-fi elements in it. The film delves into the life of Khilat (Anindya) who loses a portion of his memory due to an accident. Paying a tribute to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the story then delves into the possibility of memory transplant. Throughout the film, the life of Khilat and his sweetheart Joyee (Shruti Das) is portrayed through a melancholy musical. While the film has failed to be a box office success, the music of the film has done well.
While his Feluda series is gaining momentum on Hoichoi, Srijit’s next Bollywood endeavour Sherdil which features Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta in lead will soon be released in theatres.
