It was a star-studded evening when veteran television personality Chaitali Dasgupta launched her fourth book Atmaswajan (one's relations) on March 20 in Kolkata at a community hall in South Kolkata. The book was launched by the well-known Bengali author Shirshendu Mukherjee and danseuse Purnima Ghosh.
The special guests, Aparna Sen, Swastika Mukherjee, and Anindya Chattopadhyay read excerpts from the book. Renowned dancer Smt Purnima Ghosh graced this special day, which was also Chaitali Dasgupta's birthday, with her dance performance as actress Bidipta Chakraborty accompanied her with songs.
Hailing from a very illustrious background, the author recounts her indelible memories spent with her eminent and accomplished relatives, teachers, and friends, such as poet Sankho Ghosh, director Rituparno Ghosh, Professor and writer Nabaneeta Dev Sen among others in this unique book published by Saptarshi Prakashan.
Aparna Sen read out from the piece written on Sankha Ghosh. Anindya read out from the piece on Rituparno Ghosh and Swastika read out from the piece written on her father Santu Mukhopadhyay. “Santu was my friend. We practically knew each other from our early years and we even got married at the same time. Swastika was in tears before she started reading. It was an emotional moment for us,” said Chaitali.
Chaitali’s first book, Chaitali Keyar Kotha, is autobiographical writing. Her deep friendship with Saswati Guhathakurta – her contemporary TV personality – is chronicled in her second book O Lo Shoi. And finally, her third book Srabasti captures the aesthetics and style that her boutique shop Srabasti endeavours.
