Kannada actress Apoorva Bharadwaj has been in showbiz circles for a decade – she’s been a TV anchor, done TV serials and films. But it is only now, she reckons, that she’s finally getting the recognition she’s been craving. The actress has had two releases in quick succession – Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu and Nodidavaru Enantare - both of which had her in roles that drew attention.
Since last November, the response has been quite overwhelming. This is my 11th year in the industry, but the love and recognition that I have got for my films Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu and Nodidavaru Enantare is unprecedented. So, suddenly I began feeling that I need more of it,” said the actress on the Talkman Show podcast.
Interestingly, her characters in these films are vastly different – while Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu had her as a vivacious, impulsive and energetic kleptomaniac, who would not think twice before doing something and never worried about the consequences. In Nodidavaru Enantare, her character was quite sober and relaxed, a person who goes with the flow, which, she says, is a lot like her in real life.
One thing that Apoorva says she realized after being a part of these films was that for audiences it does not matter whether a new team or an experienced one is behind or in front of the camera. As long as they get an entertaining product, they will support. “We did not have to tell anyone that these are films by newbie teams. Once word-of-mouth spread that the content was good, that was all the publicity that we needed,” she said.

Apoorva, who also dabbled with direction recently, having helmed a segment in the anthology BTS, is quite keen to direct full-fledged movie. She even has a wish list of actors that she would like to collaborate with, starting with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi, Kiccha Sudeep and Kishore. “It would be amazing to see how they would act under my direction,” she said, adding, "In fact, my next film may just be a directorial venture. I have not taken up any acting assignment yet."
