Apple TV+ has released the trailer of the second season of the award-winning series Truth Be Told, showing a slightly deeper glimpse of the plotline.

True Crime podcaster Poppy Parnel, whose relentless pursuit of ‘truth and justice’ often has her taking extreme risks, has her hands on another intriguing case in Truth Be Told Season 2. But this time, the case comes from close quarters.

Academy-Award winner Octavia Spencer will reprise the role of Parnel. Academy Award-nominee Kate Hudson is onboard as Poppy’s childhood friend and media mogul Micah Keith. As Parnel digs into Keith’s case, blowing the lid off revelatory truths, their ‘lifelong friendship’ might land in troubled waters.

The trailer begins with Poppy summing up the crux of the story of the second season succinctly. “Seeking answers is never a straight line,” her voice booms. The trailer then races into Micah prodding Poppy to take her case for the podcast and ‘air it all.’ Poppy goes on to add that they will look into information on the case ignored by the media and the police. Then the twist in the tale comes as potent hints of secrets are spilled. Lying and gaslighting come to the fore in the murky picture and things start to turn sour between the two friends until it all trickles down to Poppy deciding to put her foot down and get to the truth at all costs.

Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thoms and Haneefah Wood, Ron Cephas Jones, Michael Breach, Tami Roman and Katherni LaNasa will reprise their roles from the first season.

The second season of the anthology crime drama will have 10 episodes. The Apple TV+ series is slated for its official debut on August 20. As is with most shows on Apple TV+, the series will drop one new episode of Truth Be Told Season 2 every Friday.
