Scott Turow's best-selling novel Presumed Innocent is getting the small-screen treatment.

Spearheading this project is veteran writer David E Kelly (Big Little Lies) as showrunner and executive producer along with Dustin Thomason, J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson.

The eight-episode limited series is "the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s Office when one of its own is suspected of the crime," according to a press release.

The press release adds that Kelly's reimagining will explore "obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together."

The book has been previously adapted for the screen in 1990 with Harrison Ford, writes The Hollywood Reporter

The project is backed by Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.

Besides Big Little Lies, other notable projects to Kelley's name include the adaptation of the book Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu), Goliath (Amazon Prime Video), HBO limited series The Undoing, the Doogie Howser reboot Doogie Kamealoha, M.D and Big Shot at Disney+. He is also behind the upcoming adaptation of Michael Connelly's novel The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix).
