This week, the film had its direct online debut instead of being released in theatres. Those who missed it during festival runs were waiting its theatrical or OTT premiere. No other Malayalam film has been revealed for the week's OTT release, except from Appuram. Sarkeet, Karam, and Athibheekara Kaamukan are other recent films available on Manorama Max. Additionally, Sandeep Pradeep's film Eko is currently accessible on Netflix. More recent Malayalam OTT releases include Pranav Mohanlal's horror film Dies Irae, Nivin Pauly's online series Pharma, and Mammootty's Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. OTTplay users can access all of these as well.
Appuram or The Other Side plot, cast details
The protagonist of Appuram is a teenage girl who grows up in a household with strict customs and a mother who struggles with mental illness. Pradeep Kumar and actor-director Mini IG also play significant parts in the movie.
Starring Jagadish and Anagha Ravi, the movie took part in the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala's (IFFK) International Competition segment. Indu Lakshmi is the director and writer of Appuram. During these festival screenings, it received praise for its subject matter and performances, especially Anagha's.
Bijibal has composed music for this film, with edit works helmed by Appu N Bhattathiri. Rakesh Dharan is the cinematographer. Nila, which starred Shanthi Krishna, Mammukoya, and Vineeth, was Indu's directorial debut. As part of the Kerala government's effort to empower women, the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) backed her first directorial.
