April 2023: Here's looking at the films that clicked and bombed in Telugu cinema

April marks the start of summer releases when it comes to Telugu cinema. This year too, some big and medium-range films came out at the box office. Some clicked whereas some bombed at the ticketing windows. Let's look at some of the hits and flops in the month of April.

Dasara

Nani's Dasara was released on the 30th of March in a massive way. So, for two weeks, the film created havoc at the box office and even shocked the trade pundits in Tollywood. The period drama directed by debutante Srikanth Odela became Nani's first ever 100 crores hit in his career. Even after its OTT release on Netflix, the film is still attracting an audience in a select few theaters in Telugu states.

Ravanasura

The inform Ravi Teja released his new film Ravanasura on the 7th of April. The film has decent openings but sadly as word of mouth was bad, the film flopped and disappointed fans of Ravi Teja. Sudheer Varma directed the film and Ravi Teja played a lawyer with negative shades.

Meter

On the same day, young hero Kiran Abbavaram released his mass drama Meter which was produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film was washed away on the first day itself and ended as the biggest flop in Kiran Abbavaram's career.

Shaakuntalam

Shaakuntalam was director Gunasekhar's dream project. He spent crores on the film and Samantha gave blood for the project. But sadly, the poor VFX, silly direction, and lack of depth in emotions made the film a huge flop. Dil Raju, who co-produced the film will end up with losses of up to 20 crores.

Virupaksha

Sai Dharam Tej made a comeback with Virupaksha which was produced by Sukumar and BVSN Prasad. The film was directed by Karthik Dandu and ended as a huge hit at the box office. The suspense thriller has grossed over 70 crores at the box office so far.

Agent

Agent is the last release of this month and had Akhil playing the role of a RAW Agent. The film which was in the making for the last two years has started off on a disastrous note. The occupancy is so bad that the film will be seeing dismal numbers at the box office and the makers will end in huge losses.
