That Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom aka Aquaman 2 will not have the reception like Aquaman (2018) as a given fact. The drama around the movie from day one made this very clear even when the movie was still being made. But no one at that point was prepared to see the film struggling to even recollect its reported budget which is actually massive. But if a predecessor is over $1 billion strong product, the massive budget seems justified. But the Jason Momoa starrer sequel is definitely having a very slow run at the box office. It has now finally crossed a new milestone but is still away from recovering the budget.

About Aquaman 2:

Aquaman 2 stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll, Nicole Kidman, and an ensemble. Directed by James Wan, the movie is a direct sequel to 2018’s Aquaman which created the history of DCEU and Warner Bros becoming the highest-grosser for the former and one of the most successful films for the latter. Now firms out the movie at a slow pace have unlocked a milestone and have now crossed $ 150 Million at the global box office.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom was released on December 22 in the West. In some parts of the world including India it was released on December 21. This means it had the privilege of having a long weekend with Christmas on Monday and an extra day on Thursday in some parts of the world. Even with this upper hand, the movie has only managed to earn over $150 Million worldwide until now. The numbers are too low if you compare them with the 2018 movie that was already a winner in a week.

Comparison With Budget:

While the movie earning over $150 Million worldwide is some redemption for the Jason Momoa starrer it still has a very long way to even recover its making cost. As per Comic Book Movie, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom was made with a budget of $250 Million. This means, the movie is closed to $100 Million short to recover the budget forget breakeven.

In this case, it will be interesting to see whether the movie manages to be a steady vehicle that at least recovers cost or ends up being a loss affair. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
