Music composer AR Rahman, who has captivated us with his music, has been admitted at a private hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning after complaining of chest pain. He was rushed to the hospital at around 7.30 in the morning, where the composer is undergoing check-up and tests to access his health condition. As per the latest statement from the hospital, Rahman had dehydration symptoms and got discharged after routine check-up.
Composer AR Rahman, has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after he complained of chest pain. He was rushed to hospital on Sunday morning at around 7.30 am. As per reports, the doctors have conducted ECG and echocardiogram tests on the composer. It is also reported that he might go through angiogram. As per the latest statement from the hospital, Rahman had dehydration symptoms and got discharged after routine check-up.
The 58-year-old, who has predominantly worked in Tamil and Hindi film industries, is being closely monitored by a panel of doctors, with the hospital authorities expected to release a health statement about the composer soon.
It is to be noted that recently, Rahman's former wife Saira Banu was also hospitalised a few weeks before due to medical emergency. She had undergone surgery and had thanked AR Rahman for his support during her low health condition.
AR Rahman has significantly contributed to Indian cinema in 2024 and 2025. After scoring for films like Ayalaan, Lal Salaam, Malayalam film Aadujeevitham, and Maidaan in Hindi, the composer has a number of albums in the making already. In 2025, Rahman composed the soundtrack for Kadhalikka Neramillai, a Tamil romantic comedy directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, which released in January. Additionally, he scored for Chhaava, a Hindi film directed by Laxman Utekar.
Rahman’s 2025 slate, includes Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan, Hindi film Tere Ishq Mein and other films like Genie, RC 16, Moon Walk, Ramayana and Lahore 1947, with release dates spread across the next few years.
