Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most-awaited projects from Hindi cinema for obvious reasons. The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in the lead roles, also leaves a grand impact because of its music. For that matter, it is AR Rahman’s first collaboration with Hans Zimmer. The Indian composer who has been an Oscar-winner himself, revealed what went behind the making of Ramayana music during his conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. He explained the process, spoke about the epic and much more during the live interaction. Find out…
Speaking about his collaboration with Hans Zimmer, Rahman shared, “We did a couple of sessions. I’m due for the intro promo. It’s going fine for both of us (laughs). We’re scoring something iconic and important. He had a soundscape and I added Sanskrit words to the end.”
Pointing out how it was a challenge since India already knows about the epic and thus, they have to bring something new to the table, Rahman shared, “What’s complicated is this is an epic that every Indian knows, and we have to give them something new – from India to the World. We had to unlearn some things and also imbibe qualities which is there in the culture. This process happens.”
