Minmini is an upcoming film that is set to hit big screens on August 9. Ahead of its release, the makers held a special premiere of the film, which is directed by Halitha Shameem. With music scored by Khatija Rahman in her debut, her father and famed musician AR Rahman also attended the premiere show.
Speaking to the press, AR Rahman said, “This film is my daughter's first music and Halitha has selected her. Both seem to have unique voices and this is the first time I am seeing such a story in Tamil. It has a very natural way of storytelling and Khatija's work is very good. Any news on Khatija gets about a thousand people taunting her and I think she has given a good reply to all of them. Manoj has done a great job producing it and he is courageous and generous in producing. This film will bring Tamil cinema new audience.”

Minmini stars Esther Anil, Pravin Kishore, and Gaurav Kalai in the lead roles. Halitha had shot the first half of the film with the actors, who were child artists, and waited for seven years for them to grow up and reprise their roles.
The film deals with the concept of survivor’s guilt and how it impacts the lives of two teens who take a bike trip to the Himalayas. Cinematographer Manoj Paramhamsa, who shot the film, has also produced Minmini. The coming-of-age drama will release in theatres on August 9 along with the Prashanth-starrer Andhagan.
