While it was public knowledge that Aishwarya Rajinikanth co-wrote Lal Salaam along with filmmaker Vishnu Rangasamy, besides directing it, did you know that Superstar Rajinikanth has also made a significant contribution as a writer to the movie's screenplay, even though he's not credited for it?

Lal Salaam seems to be a very special film for Rajinikanth as he has been closely involved in the project from the very beginning stages. And Rajinikanth's contribution to this movie seems to extend beyond helping his daughter find the right producers and playing an extended cameo in it.

During the audio release event of Lal Salaam, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman revealed a very little-known fact about the movie: Rajinikanth has written some parts of the dialogue in the movie. Rahman suggested that Rajinikanth's dialogues seem so timely and sensible that they added a fresh perspective on a widely discussed subject.

At the event, Rahman revealed that when Aishwarya narrated the story of Lal Salaam to him, he thought this film was going to bore me with advice.

"But when I saw the final cut, the places where I thought it would be cringey or preachy were all wonderful, thought-provoking, and humanist. I asked her who wrote the dialogues. She said I wrote, and Appa (Rajinikanth) made some changes. I thought about his wisdom. Since he respects everyone and does a lot of research, he has said some rare things in the movie," said Rahman, who has scored music for the movie.

Lal Salaam's important message

Rajinikanth described Lal Salaam as a movie, which is "need of the hour" hinting at the growing communal tension across the country. At a time when the country seems to be grappling with polarising issues, this movie emphasises the need to rise above the religious divide and unite under the singular identity - Indian.

Rajinikanth's extended cameo role, named Moideen Bhai, is expected to be the highlight of the movie.

Besides Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, K. S. Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah. The film is due in cinemas on February 9.
