The makers of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1 unveiled the film’s second song Chola Chola

The makers of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: 1 unveiled the film’s second song Chola Chola today. The song, sung by Sathya Prakash, VM Mahalingam & Nakul Abhyankar hails Aditya Karikalan, the Chola king played by Chiyaan Vikram. The song is composed by AR Rahman and the lyrics are penned by Ilango Krishnan. The lines that go, "Kodi Kodi Kodi Parakka Thada Thadaththu, Pari Pari Pari Thudikka, Kadum Manadhil Veri Veri Veri Pirakka...." hails the brave Chola warrior and compares him to a tiger. Vikram is seen dancing to the beats of the song and we also get a glimpse of his love interest, Nandini Devi, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The song also celebrates Aditya Karikalan as a lover.

The first single, Ponni Nadhi, sung by AR Rahman, AR Raihanah and Bamba Bakya, marked the arrival of the brave commander Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan to the Chola land. The teaser has already piqued the curiosity among the audience.
Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: I is said to be one of his most expensive films till date. The film is said to be Mani Ratnam's dream project and is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. The novel tells the story of Arunmozhi Varman, who eventually goes on to become the popular king, Rajaraja Cholan I. The film stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Karthi in the lead. The ensemble cast includes Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Jayaram, Rahman, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu to name a few.
Cinematography is by Ravi Varman and editing is by Sreekar Prasad. The art direction is handled by Thota Tharrani. The film is gearing up to hit screens on September 30 in theatres worldwide. It will be released in five languages- Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
