Arasan promo: Simbu appears in Vetrimaaran’s ‘untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai’; wants Dhanush to play him onscreen

The promo of Arasan, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Silambarasan in the lead role, debuted in selected theatres, before making its way to online release. Written and directed by Vetrimaaran, the five-minute long promo also features director Nelson Dilipkumar as Silambarasan gets introduced in style for a new chapter from the Vada Chennai universe.

Arasan promo out: Silambarasan rocks in style with two getups

Arasan is one of the most expected films which will feature the first collaboration of director Vetrimaaran and actor Silambarasan. The makers had already revealed that Arasan will be from the world of Vada Chennai, the period gangster actioner starring Dhanush in the lead role.

While Arasan promo will be officially released online on Friday, the makers of the film revealed the promo by screening it in select theatres in Chennai. Naturally, fans who watched it on big screens, recorded and put it on social media

The five-minute long of Arasan promo shows an aged gangster played by Simbu who is speaking with Nelson Dilipkumar who appears as a filmmaker. The gangster, in his typical Madras slang, is speaking with Nelson and asking to make a film about him. He even asks to cast Dhanush in his character. Later, Simbu's character appears in court for committing three murders. Meanwhile, we also see another appearance of Simbu, this time much younger and sports a funk hairstyle, very much like Dhanush in Vada Chennai. The promo concludes with the line 'An untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai'.

Arasan music to be scored by Anirudh Ravichander

For Arasan, Vetrimaaran has let go of his usual collaborators like Santhosh Narayanan and GV Prakash. Instead, he will be working with Anirudh Ravichander for the music of Arasan. The upcoming film is yet to get a release date, with cast member names kept under wraps. Arasan will have fresh producers as opposed to Dhanush who backed Vada Chennai.
