Arasan: Vijay Sethupathi joins Vetrimaaran and Silambarasan’s gangster actioner from Vada Chennai world

We had earlier reported that Arasan is a new Tamil film with actor Silambarasan aka Simbu headlining it. The project marks the first time the actor will be collaborating with filmmaker Vetrimaaran. A teaser introducing the fans to the world of Arasan was released a while ago, with much anticipations around the project. In the recent, it was announced that actor Vijay Sethupathi has also joined the cast.

Arasan: Vijay Sethupathi joins the cast

Actor Silambarasan’s upcoming film is titled Arasan, and had already reported the positive reception the announcement teaser received. The film is written and directed by filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who has already made films like Viduthalai duology, Asuran, and Vada Chennai.

On Tuesday, the makers of Arasan announced that actor Vijay Sethupathi will be joining the cast of the film. It is to be noted that Arasan comes from the world of Vada Chennai. The films are expected to be on the same timeline, with some characters having a crossover. With Vijay Sethupathi entering the world, it is sure that Vetrimaaran is assembling a star ensemble for his second instalment in the Vada Chennai universe.

Arasan is not a direct sequel to Vada Chennai, as confirmed by Vetrimaaran. The director said that the sequel will have Dhanush in the lead role. While Arasan will mark the first time Vijay Sethupathi will be sharing the screen space with Simbu, on the other hand, Vetrimaaran has already worked with Vijay Sethupathi in the Viduthalai duology.
