It has been a few days since the promo for Arasan was released. The Vetrimaaran film, starring actor Silambarasan in the lead role, is set within the Vada Chennai universe. The makers did not hold back from revealing that spoiler. However, how it will be connected to Vetrimaaran’s earlier gangster film has not yet been revealed. Vetrimaaran and makers had not stated how the film would be connected to Dhanush’s Vada Chennai, but from a lot of information packed in the promo, Arasan, netizens have made a timeline connection. As per one user's post on X, it showed the clip from Vada Chennai where, in a scene, a character gets to know the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi (on May 21, 1991). Meanwhile, juxtaposed with this clip is a scene from Arasan promo when Simbu tells the judge that he saw Captain Prabakaran's movie (released on April 14, 1991) on the night of a crime. It is deduced that Arasan takes place almost during the same time as Vada Chennai, with a gap of a month. Additionally, both Dhanush and Simbu having a funk hairstyle suggests that the films can be set during the same period. However, one has to wait and watch if the fan theory is indeed true or not.
