The plot of Ardh revolves around a struggling theatre artiste who wants to became an actor in the film industry.

Rajpal Yadav plays Shiva, a struggling theatre artiste, who wants to try his luck in the city of dreams, Mumbai. He arrives in the Maximum City to try his luck in films and eventually, become a star. In the trailer, we see Shiva, dressed as a woman, begging on the street. It seems to survive in the big city, Shiva pretends to be a transwoman and resorts to begging on the streets and in the local trains. The film chronicles his journey of seeking an acting career in the city. The film marks the Bollywood debut of TV star Rubina Dilaik. She plays Shiva's supportive wife, who encourages him to pursue his dreams. The rest of the star cast includes Hiten Tejwani and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

Ardh is directed by Palash Muchhal and is bankrolled by Pal Music and Films. Palash had earlier stated that Ardh is the story of every person who comes to Mumbai with the dream of achieving something big.

The voice-over of the film is provided by none other than Jackie Shroff. Music for the film is also by Palash Muchhal. The album comprises the songs, Ishq Ka Manjha (sung by Palak Muchhal), Zindagi (Sonu Nigam and Rekha Bharadwaj),Soja Chand Re (Rubina Dilaik), Dum Ali (Divya Kumar and Amit Mishra), Ardh Theme (Parry G and Palash Muchhal) and Peene Da Bahana (Shree D and Kuwar Virk). The lyrics for the songs are penned by Palak Muchhal, Kunal Vermaa, Palash Muchhal, Parry G and Kuwar Virk.
