Arijit Singh mourns the loss of his grandmother

Singer Arijit Singh lost his mother in 2021. Now he lost another close relative, his grandmother. The singer’s grandmother, Bharati Debi was 82 when she passed away on Sunday afternoon in Jiaganj, Murshidabad. She was suffering from age-related complications. 

Reports suggested that Arijit was seen going to Jiaganj crematorium in his scooter with his wife Koel Singh. The crematorium is by the Ganges and is administered by the Jiaganj-Ajimganj Municipality. Bharati Debi's last rites were done there. Arijit, Koel, and Arijit's father Surinder Singh were present there. The musician was reportedly mourning the loss of his dear grandmother.

Arijit's mother Aditi Singh had Covid in 2021 and breathed her last in a hospital in Kolkata. The last time Arijit came to perform in Kolkata, he talked about his mother.

She was only 57 at that time. She was initially admitted to Berhampore Matrisadan. Then she was brought to Dhakuria AMRI. At one time, the rare blood group O- was needed and citizens of Kolkata extended help to Arijit. Aditi Singh was cured of COVID-19 but succumbed to multi-organ failure.

Arijit, in his Kolkata concert, said, “For the first time I am performing in Kolkata when my mother is no more. Many people helped me when she was ill. Thank you..young and old, many people helped me. I could not meet everyone. We could not save the person. People go when their times are up. Thanks to all who stood by my side at that time in Kolkata.”

CM Mamata Banerjee recently announced the grant of land allotment in Jiaganj where a school and a hospital will be made at Arijit’s initiative. Arijit wants to make a hospital at his own cost in Jangipur. He also wants to make a school.
