Malayalam actor Arjun Ashokan has had a bunch of releases this year, including the heart-touching Thalavara. But the one film that was talked about and also got him a fair bit of trolling was Thudarum, starring Mohanlal. In a recent interview with Asianet ahead of the release of his upcoming film Khajuraho Dreams, Arjun Ashokan recounted shooting for the cameo in the Tharun Moorthy directorial.
The 2025 Malayalam film Thudarum featured Arjun Ashokan making a cameo in a scene that many netizens found was not relevant to the overall narrative and questioned the actor’s choice. But Arjun Ashokan insists that this was his first chance to act with the superstar of Malayalam cinema and why would he let the opportunity slide. The scene featured a brief fun tussle between Mohanlal’s character Benz Shanmugham and Arjun Ashokan.

However Arjun told Asianet that he had no clue what the scene was prior to the shoot. Only after he landed at the shooting location did he come to know what the scene was and was really tensed about it.
"I was told about the scene only after reaching there. What to do? I couldn't just leave either. It was 1’o clock in the night. I was shivering with tension. But Lalettan was so chill that the tension abated, and everything ended on a peaceful note,” the Khajuraho Dreams actor recounted.
This particular cameo and Mohanlal swaying to the Shanthamee Ratriyil song are among the lighter portions before Thudarum goes full thriller mode.

On the other hand, Arjun Ashokan’s Khajuraho Dreams releases in theatres on December 5, 2025, along with a bunch of other Malayalam films. But the biggest among all is Mammootty’s thriller Kalamkaval. The other films releasing are Dheeram, starring Indrajith Sukumaran, Sreenath Bhasi-led Pongala, and The Ride. Khajuraho Dreams has been in the making for long and faced several delays and postponements
