Debutant filmmaker Manoj Vasudev’s upcoming movie Khajuraho Dreams, which was supposed to go on floors in 2019 but was delayed due to the pandemic, is finally gearing up to hit theatres soon.

The multi-starrer, which has Arjun Ashokan, Sharafudheen, Sreenath Bhashi, Dhruvan and Aditi Ravi in lead roles, is a road movie that revolves around a group of friends who set about a journey from Kerala to a village in Madhya Pradesh in a spur-of-a-moment decision.

The film’s audio launch was recently held in Kochi, and was attended by its director, scriptwriter Sethu, Arjun Ashokan, producer MK Nazar and music director Gopi Sundar. Sreenath Bhasi, who had recently come under fire by the film bodies, was conspicious by his absence at the event.

Apart from being shot in several states across the country, the film also has an important social message, according to the makers. Told through humour, the team will be hoping Arjun Ashokan’s Midas touch at the box office would rub off on the movie too. The actor’s Romancham, which is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, is the highest-grossing Malayalam movie this year.

Bollywood actor Raj Arjan, Johny Antony, Sadiq, Sohan Seenulal, G Chandunath, Varsha Vishwanath, Naina Sarwar and Raksha play the other pivotal characters in the movie, which has Pradeep Nair as its cinematographer and Lijo Paul as its editor.

Khajuraho Dreams has Kochi, Wayanad, Mysore, Hubli, Nasik and Khajuraho as its main locations. Initially, when the movie was announced, it also had Saiju Kurup and Samyuktha Menon as part of its cast. Their characters are now played by Sharafudheen and Aditi Ravi, respectively. The film is expected to release this month, even though an official announcement is yet to be made.

The film’s director Manoj Vasudev had previously worked as an assistant director in Lal Jose’s movie Arabikatha and also served as a line producer for Aashirvad Cinemas in Dubai. The upcoming movie’s first-look poster was launched by Mohanlal earlier this year.
