Arjun Janya’s 45 release in other languages deferred; only Kannada on December 25

Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45 is a pan-India release, albeit not simultaneous. On December 15, when the trailer of the multi-starrer was revealed in all 5 languages, barring Kannada, no other version had a December 25, 2025 release date. Turns out, the other language versions will be in theatres only a week later, as one of the first films of the new year. 45 will release on January 1, 2026 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Starring Shivarajkuma, Upendra and Raj B Shetty in the lead, 45 is said to be a film steeped in Sanatana Dharma tenets. While the debutant filmmaker has said that he wrote the story after losing his brother during the pandemic, he has strived to not reveal the plot of the film with the earlier teaser and the new trailer too. He’s only given audiences an idea about the scale of the production, with the trailer.

According to speculation on social media, the story revolves around Raj’s character, a common man, while Shivarajkumar and Upendra play Shiva and Yama, respectively. The film also stars Rajendra, Pramod Shetty, Jaffer Sadiq and Kousthubha Mani, among others. 45 has been rumoured to denote the time between a person’s death and when the soul either moves to the afterlife or gets reborn. Arjun is expected to have drawn inspiration from this concept.

The film was meant to be in theatres in August this year, but the VFX work was not complete, forcing a postponement. Arjun has said that a lot of time, effort and money has been spent on getting the graphics done in Canada, but going by the visuals in the trailer, the output is not entirely satisfactory. What the trailer has done, though, is generate intrigue among audiences about what Arjun is set to present on December 25.
