Army of the Dead 2: Zack Snyder reveals sequel’s title, teases the use of time loops

Zack Snyder’s work with the undead began with his film debut, Dawn of the Dead, which was a 2004 remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. The director brushed up his skills to bring the undead onto the big screen in 2021 with Army of the Dead and now will be working on a sequel. 

The director has now revealed the name of the sequel while in a discussion with Inverse. The sequel to Army of the Dead will be titled Planet of the Dead. The name hints at a global apocalypse, which is intriguing. 

Snyder also revealed in a recent interview with GamesRadar+ about the use of time loops in the sequel.

"I'm a huge fan of this mythological understory. All your time loop fun that you can have, there's a lot of cool enhancements that are baked in now.” said the filmmaker.

While it is not understood how this time loop element will work in the movie, the director also added that he “can’t wait” to start working on the sequel.

A prequel to Army of the Dead titled Army of Thieves is set to release on Friday. The movie follows Matthias Schweighöfer’s Ludwig Dieter six years before he joined the team that went into zombie populated Las Vegas for the heist. 

Directed by Matthias Schweighöfer, the movie will be a building block in the ambitious universe that Snyder looks to be building.
