Arun Prabhu, who made his directorial debut with the 2017 film Aruvi had already completed the shooting for his second film, Vaazhl in July of 2019. But the movie has not yet seen the light of the day. Latest reports suggest that the makers of the movie are in talks with SonyLiv and will skip theatrical release of the film to opt for a direct OTT release.

Vaazhl is produced by Sivakarthikeyan and co-produced by Kalai Arasu. The movie will be a travelogue musical drama. The shoot for the film began in January 2019 and the entire filming was completed in a record time of 75 days on 100 different locations and wrapped up on July 15, 2019. The film was censored with an U/A certificate and has a final run time of 1 hour and 54 minutes.

Popular singer and composer Pradeep Kumar will be composing the music for the film. Vaazhl being a travelogue musical drama, is highly placed on music and Pradeep Kumar has composed about 10 songs for the movie. The film will feature newcomers Pradeep, Bhanu, Diva and Yathra in lead roles. Shelly Calist handles the cinematography for the movie, while editing is done by Derrick Crasta.

Arun Prabhu also revealed that Vaazhl was supposed to be his first film, but got postponed because of unavoidable reasons. His debut directorial, Aruvi was a critically and commercially successful movie winning multiple awards at the Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards and Filmfare Awards South. Aruvi’s whole story revolved around a single female lead, a middle-class girl who is thrown out of her house after her family accuses her of having brought shame on them. As she tries to survive on her own, she also fights against the consumerist misogynistic nature of modern civilization.
