Arya, whose latest release was Enemy, is likely to team up with Muthaiah of Komban-fame. Unconfirmed reports suggest that this one will be a rural entertainer, set in the backdrop of Madurai, similar to the filmmaker's previous outings. However, we await an official confirmation. For now, the location hunt is on, and we know Velraj has been roped in as the cinematographer.

Hearsay is that this yet-to-be-titled film will be bankrolled by Drumstick Productions that funded the Arun Vijay-starrer, Yaanai, which hit the screens on July 1. A source in the know says the Arya-Muthaiah project will go on floors by August, this year.

Arya has Captain and an untitled film with Nalan Kumarasamy in his kitty. The former is directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, who Arya collaborated with on Teddy. Touted to be an intense high octane action film, Captain will be released in the second half of 2022. Captain is produced by Think Studios, in association with actor Arya’s The Show People. Apart from Arya, the rest of the cast includes Simran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Harish Uthaman, Kavya Shetty, Gokul Anand, and Suresh Menon, Bharath Raj and Ambuli Gokul.

On the other hand, Muthaiah awaits the release of Viruman, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. This rural-based mass entertainer is headlined by Karthi. The film also marks the actor's reunion with the director, after their successful previous collaboration, Komban. Viruman has director Shankar's daughter Aditi making her acting debut. Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, RK Suresh, Manoj, and Soori will be seen in prominent roles.

Speaking about his choice of films, Arya, in an interview with The New Indian Express, tells, that every new film comes with its set of challenges. “For instance, I played an Aghori with almost no dialogue in Naan Kadavul. Aligning with Bala sir's vision was a great challenge. The challenges for Sarpatta Parambarai were different.”

But, as a performer, Arya says he's particular that his films always subscribe to a certain message. “At the same time, when directors have a vision, I don’t object,” he adds.
