Akhanda 2 is one of the biggest films in the career of Nandamuri Balakrishna. The action drama was directed by Boyapati Sreenu, who has delivered big hits like Simha, Legend, and Akhanda with the star hero.

Naturally, the hype was high for the film, but things went sour at the last minute when it was given a stay order by the Chennai High Court just hours before release, owing to financial issues.
The film, which was supposed to hit the screens on December 5, 2025, eventually released on December 12. The action drama opened with a bang, making close to Rs 60 crore in just three days, as per tracking portal Sacnilk.
However, since then, Akhanda 2 has struggled at the box office and is almost done with its theatrical run. To date, the film has made Rs 87 crore. Though this is a decent figure, the film has ended as a huge flop, as it was made on a budget of Rs 150 crore. A large portion of the budget went toward the remuneration of the director and the lead actor.
The focus has now shifted to the OTT release, as the makers are staring at losses of close to Rs 40 crore. A source close to the trade revealed that Akhanda 2 did not break even in a single region of its release.
Akhanda 2 OTT deal locked with a twist
The OTT deal has also taken a hit, as Netflix approved the deal on a percentage basis. As per the agreement, if the film flopped, Netflix would cut 25% of the promised amount. This has further impacted the makers, resulting in heavy losses.

Despite delivering big hits in the last two years, Balakrishna has disappointed his fans at the box office with this film. Samyuktha Menon plays the female lead in the film, which also features Harshali Malhotra in a key role.
