As Dhurandhar becomes highest grossing Indian film, Vivek Oberoi compares it with Animal: 'Ripped it apart'

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has become the highest-earning Hindi film ever with a net India collection of over Rs 831 crore. Before Dhurandhar, the highest-grossing position was claimed by the Hindi-dubbed version of Allu Arjun’s 2023 film Pushpa 2: The Rule, earning Rs. 830 crore. Amid this milestone, Vivek Oberoi shared his rave review for Dhurandhar also compared it with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.

Vivek Oberoi took to his X account and shared a long post as he reviewed Dhurandhar. He showered praise on the direction, execution, editing, performance, and more. He said, "This is more than cinema; it is the jarring shock of a switch being flicked in a pitch-black room."

Vivek noted that Dhurandhar captures a reality that few have truly confronted. He spoke of the heavy, airless silence in the homes of martyrs, where walls overflow with memories yet chairs remain empty, and the cold weight of history lingers in the corridors where the unknown sacrificed their tomorrows for our peaceful today.

He reflected on the haunting scenes of children who only know their fathers through photographs, noting that, while outrage may be a luxury for those untouched by such truths, for others, the film simply reflects the reality they live.

Showering praise on Aditya Dhar, Vivek shared that the filmmaker does not just narrate; he lets the story bleed and dares you to take your eyes off your screen for the full 3 hours and 34 minutes. 

Comparing how Ranbir Kapoor's Animal in 2023 also ripped it apart like Dhurandhar, Oberoi wrote, "This cinematic brilliance shines through the lens of a director who is devoted not to spectacle, but to the craft itself. Every frame casting a spell on the viewer, every character etched out masterfully. A film that has not just pushed the envelope but ripped it apart just like Animal did in 2023," he wrote. 

Vivek Oberoi remarked on the cast’s rare fearlessness in Dhurandhar, highlighting how each performance serves the story. He noted that Ranveer Singh carries a restrained, warm intensity, proving that silence can often have a deeper impact than loud expressions. 

He observed that Akshaye Khanna commands attention with the sheer power of his gaze, the subtlety of his smile, and the unflinching intensity of the ‘Kasainuma’ violence, making the character of the Dakait unforgettable. "@ActorMadhavan is the intellectual steel, the calm eye within a lethal storm, the patriotic mastermind who I am so excited to see in Part 2. My legendary brother @duttsanjay and @rampalarjun bring a weathered, granite-like gravity that makes the shadows of the frontlines feel tangible," he penned.
