Kushi, the relationship drama starring Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha, is off to an impressive start at the box office and needs to perform exceedingly well this weekend as well to ensure good profits to the producers Mythri Movie Makers. At the film’s success meet held in Vizag, the director Shiva Nirvana spoke of his connection with the city and the inspiration behind Kushi.
“Hello Vizag..I have done four films but I didn’t get a chance to organise a event where I was born. I am very emotional and happy. I was one among you, a Sabbavaram boy, who tried to make a mark in films,” the director said. Shiva Nirvana apparently told Vijay how the love he’ll get in Vizag will be unmatched and remembered that he wrote all his film stories in Vizag.
Calling himself a big fan of Vijay Deverakonda, he recollected coming to Vizag after watching Arjun Reddy and how he was crazy about the film and Vijay’s performance. Shiva told he wanted to direct Vijay at any cost. The thought that began at RK Beach has now translated into Kushi, he added. “I am so happy to have directed him. Kushi is special for me.”
Shiva Nirvana shared that he always wanted his films to have a larger purpose. There’s no emotion stronger than family, he said. As a filmmaker, he stated his attempt is to interpret familial bonds as entertainingly as possible through his films. In Kushi, he apparently wanted to convey how irrespective of our castes, religions and perspectives, it is important to rise above these differences and stay together.
“I tried to tell a story that’ll resonate with audiences between 6 and 60. Watch Kushi with your families before Pushpa 2 and Salaar hits screens this season. I hope Vizag crowds greet this film with warmth and enjoy it in theatres,” he signed off. The makers have informed that Kushi collected close to $ 1.6 million at the US box office.
