It was exactly the day and date of 20 April 2012, when a movie hit the theatres, which not just revolutionised but also ‘evolutionised’ the way one would look at a Bollywood film. This is probably the first time ever that a Hindi film was made on sperm donors! We are indeed talking about Vicky Donor, a film that went onto become a massive success at the box office. Today, the film, which starred Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, clocks 12 years of its release.

What better way to celebrate the film Vicky Donor clocking 12 years of its release, than to watch these 5 Ayushmann Khurrana films on ZEE5

Title: Dream Girl
Produced by: Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor
Directed by: Raaj Shaandilyaa
Star cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz

Film’s plot:
First things first. The film’s maker needs to be applauded for not just having thought of making such a film, but also having the conviction to make the film. Just like Vicky Donor, Dream Girl too followed the unconventional path and became a huge success.

The film revolves around the life story of Karam (Aayushman Khurana), who is best known and is famous for his ability to act and speak like a female. Thanks to this unique talent, he gets a job at a call centre where he gets the ‘job’ of a fantasy booster / entertainer. All that he had to do was to keep engaging the caller on the phone, which eventually became his employer’s main source of income.

When Karam becomes ‘Miss Pooja’, a whole lot of unsuspecting people get attracted towards the voice so much so that it becomes a daily addiction to them. Will Param ever be able to attain his original odnetity and what happens to his job is what forms the rest of the film.

Title: Shubh Mangal Saavdhan
Produced by: Krishika Lulla, Aanand L. Rai
Directed by: R. S. Prasanna
Star cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar

Film’s plot:
The film’s story revolves around Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Sugandha Joshi (Bhumi Pednekar). Just like Vicky Donor, this film too was bold enough to address an issue which has always been pushed under the carpet or was not openly spoken about. We are talking about erectile dysfunction (ED).

Even in the film, when Mudit and Sugandha decide to get physical, the former makes his situation understandable before the latter with the help of a tea and biscuit, which he dips inside. What happens after that is what forms the rest of the interesting film.

Title: Bareilly Ki Barfi
Produced by: Vineet Jain, Renu Ravi Chopra
Directed by: Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari
Star cast: Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao

Film’s plot: This film can be easily dubbed as one of the most sincere attempts in film making. This film serves as an example of films that can be made without shooting in the Alps and without hiring the best of CG and stunt directors!

The film Bareilly Ki Barfi follows the life of a tomboyish girl Bitti Mishra, who is tired of presenting herself as a bride in arranged marriages’ alliances. That’s when she decides to run away from her house when she chances upon a book. To her utter surprise and shock, the life story of the lead character in the book resembles hers in real life!

Thereafter she starts searching for the book’s author, which becomes a journey in itself. And, as luck would have it, just as when she manages to get the details of the book’s author, there comes another twist in the tale. Will Bitti finally be able to get married and meet the book’s author or are there more challenges which lies in her way… such questions and more will be answered when you see the Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi, only on Zee 5!

Film’s plot:
The film is, till date, considered to be, one of the topmost thrillers to have ever been released on silver screen. The film is all about Akash Saraf (Ayushmann Khurrana) who is a budding pianist and who fakes to be blind in order to improvise on his piano skills. As luck would have it, one day, he gets knocked down by a stunning lady Sophie (Radhika Apte). Realising her mistake, she decides to take care of him and eventually, falls in love with him.

One day, a retired actor Pramod Sinha happens to take notice of Akash’s talent and invites him home to play. When he reaches Sinha’s house, he becomes a witness to a murder of Pramod. What follows after that is beyond anybody’s imagination.

Title: Article 15

Directed by: Anubhav Sinha

Film’s plot:

The film is one of the most hard-hitting ones which the silver screen has ever witnessed. Ayushmann Khurrana excels in the role of SP Ayan Ranjan IPS, who gets posted in Laalgaon as the Additional Superintendent of Police. It is here he encounters cases of various kinds, which also includes caste discrimination and other such stuff.

One fine day, Ayan gets to know about the three girls found dead by hanging on a tree. Even though the case gets rubbed down on very unbelievable and intangible grounds, Ayan is not only determined to solve the case, but also get justice to the helpless.
