Asha Parekh has called out the makers of The Kashmir Files. Vivek Agnihotri had directed and produced the movie. The actress asked why did he not share the profits the movie made with the Kashmiri Hindus who are struggling till date. She asked Vivek the same question even to his face and spoke about his reaction to that.

Asha Parekh’s statement

During a recent News18 event, the actress was asked about the films like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story and asked to speak on the controversy. Since she had not seen the films, the veteran actress could not make a comment on that. However, she did raise the question of how much did The Kashmir Files makes donate to Kashmiri Hindus. “The film's producer made ₹400 crore. Toh unhone kitne paise diye unko jo Hindu Kashmiri hai, jo Jammu mein rehte hain, jinke paase pani nahi hai, electricity nahi hai, unko unhone kitne paise diye?,” she asked.

Also asked Vivek Agnihotri

At the same event, Asha Parekh revealed that she also spoke to Vivek Agnihotri in person. He responded saying that he did not earn Rs. 400 crores from the film. However, her question remained that even if he did make half the money i.e. Rs. 200 crores, did he donate Rs. 50 crores to the Kashmiri Hindus, whose situation the film addressed?

About The Kashmir Files

The Kashmir Files is one of the highest grossing films of 2022. The movie starred Anupam Kher in the lead role with Darshan Kumaar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in pivotal roles. It addressed the Kashmiri Pandit exodus of 1990s and is currently streaming on Zee5. Vivek and his wife Pallavi also released a series, as a spin-off to the film. The limited series is titled, The Kashmir Files: Unreported.

Meanwhile, The Kerala Story features Adah Sharma in the lead role and talks about the story of three girls being lured to convert to Islamism, only to be kidnapped, r*ped and trafficked to war-torn areas.
