Being a part of star vehicles is something every actress worth her salt would want to reflect in their filmography and one actor from Kannada films who was high on everyone’s wish list was Puneeth Rajkumar. While only a select few have had the fortune to be work with the Power Star, considering that he had done only about 30 films as an adult, there’s no denying the appeal he had as a potential co-star.

After not being able to accommodate dates and be a part of the actor’s James, Ashika Ranganath was thrilled to bits when she was signed up for a role in what would have been his next, Dvitva, to be directed by Pawan Kumar. That’s not all; the actress had also signed up to be a part of the medical thriller O2, which is being bankrolled by Puneeth’s home banner, PRK Productions.

But in a cruel twist of fate, Kannada cinema lost its beloved Power Star on October 29, when he succumbed to a massive heart attack. And that shattered Ashika’s dream of being able to work with the actor. In a recent report, Ashika has been quoted as saying that her family had been fans of the actor since his Appu days and were thrilled when she was set to work with him. The actress had even had costume fittings in preparation for the film, which was supposed to take off by the end of November, as soon as Puneeth wound up his commitments. “I had even started doing my readings with Pawan Kumar. I thought my dream had come true, but unfortunately it will now only remain a dream. But Appu sir will always remain in my heart,” she was quoted as saying.
