Ashika Ranganath to romance newbie Dushyanth in Suni’s next, Gatha Vaibhava

Ashika Ranganath is working with director Suni yet again. The actress, who first collaborated with the filmmaker on Avatara Purusha Part 1 and will be in the second instalment as well, is the heroine of Suni’s ongoing project with newcomer Dushyanth, Gatha Vaibhava also. Dushyanth is the son of Karnataka MLA SR Srinivas.

Although Ashika’s name was on the list of actresses who were speculated for the heroine, today, Suni announced their latest collaboration with a fun video. In the video, Suni is seen having a meeting with Ashika about working with a newcomer, to which she responds that she’d rather work with established heroes now. Suni then writes a bunch of figures about her payment for Avatara Purusha 1, 2 and now Gatha Vaibhava and slips it to her. The promised number, of course, has Ashika then singing a different track and agreeing to be part of the film immediately.

Suni and Dushyanth had earlier announced a film called Robin Hood, but the project fell through for reasons best known to the team. They later got back together for another film, Gatha Vaibhava, which is said to be a scientific thriller with prominent elements of a love story.

Once Suni finishes work on Gatha Vaibhava, he will return to the set of Avatara Purusha 2. The filmmaker had earlier announced that he was targeting a Dasara release for the Sharan starrer, but from what we know, at least 15% of the film is yet to be shot. Also, Avatara Purusha is quite VFX heavy, considering that it has elements of black magic in its storyline. The graphic work will be quite time consuming. Earlier, the team of Avatara Purusha had always maintained that they’d release part 2 within three months of the first, but now it already three months since and the film is not complete. At best, the second part will be an early 2023 release.
