Theatre veteran, film actor Ashish Vidyarthi, who shot to fame with Drohkaal and Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin in the 90s, tasted immense success down South across multiple industries - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam - in his eventful career spanning a little over 250 films. While Sreeram, Gudumba Shankar, Ala Modhalaindi are among his popular films in Telugu, his next major release in the language is Writer Padmabhushan, a comedy headlined by Suhas and directed by Shanmukha Prashanth.

The actor recently hogged the limelight with a statement ‘I’m not dead’, referring to casting agents and requesting the industry to give him work when he’s in the most active phase of his career, instead of praising him when he’s no more. Elaborating on the statement while promoting Writer Padmabhushan, he said, “Many times, we praise an actor to the skies after his death and have dinner conversations on how he deserved more opportunities when he was alive. I certainly don’t want to be one among them.”

“It’s easy to have those wishful conversations when an actor’s dead. I made the statement, expressing my readiness to work in a wide variety of roles when I’m hungry as an actor. I am not afraid to ask for work; it’s alright. I really liked the fact that even Jr NTR expressed his interest to work in a Marvel film while promoting RRR at an award ceremony. It’s important to express these things,” Ashish added in the interaction.

Ashish Vidyarthi’s Writer Padmabhushan, which is set to hit screens on February 3, also stars Rohini Molleti, Tina Shilparaj, Goparaju Ramana, Gouri Priya and others in key roles. The film is produced by Chai Bisket Films and Lahari Films.
