Ashneer Grover reveals no shark was paid for Shark Tank India season 1

Believe it or not, Ashneer Grover was not paid a penny for Shark Tank India initially. He himself has made the big revelation after coming across a video from a fan who revealed the salary of the sharks. Ashneer has now said that there was no salary. Not only he but no other shark got paid for their stint on the show.

During his speech at Lovely Professional University, Ashneer revealed that he didn’t receive a single penny for Shark Tank India. He did this to clear people’s perception after a video of his went viral on social media. This happened despite Ashneer being one of the most popular sharks of the season.

Ashneer revealed that while the video claimed that he was paid Rs. 10 lakhs per episode, in reality they didn’t even receive half of the amount. “It would be a big deal if they paid us even Rs. 5 lakhs,” Ashneer said during his speech.

“We used to reach sets at 8 am and sometimes wrap by 11 pm-12 am. It was bonded labour. We have put in very, very long hours,” Ashneer shared.

He then revealed that everybody did the show for fame. Ashneer added that the second reason why they agreed for the show was because even shooting for Shark Tank India over the weekend ‘would be more fun’ than anything else they did.

Ashneer Grover’s popularity grew fourfold since Shark Tank India aired. However, along with that, he also became a controversial figure in the world of business. Ashneer had resigned from BharatPe immediately after completing Shark Tank India.

Ashneer is the only celebrity who is not a part of Shark Tank India’s second season. He has been replaced by CarDekho’s Amit Jain for Shark Tank India season 2.
