Actor Ashok Selvan is basking in the success of his latest movie Por Thozhil, which was released in cinemas last month to critical acclaim. In addition to good reviews, the movie also turned out to be a huge draw at the box office, making it the biggest hit in Ashok's career.
As Por Thozhil completed 50 days of its theatrical run, Ashok took to Twitter to express his gratitude to an audience who made this movie such a big hit. "50 days of #PorThozhil :) Thank you audience, distributors, theatre owners, critics, Press and media. And congrats my dear team," he tweeted, adding a small post-script about the movie's most-awaited OTT debut.
"PP.S. OTT date announcement soon," he added. It won't be wrong to say that Por Thozhil is one of the most-awaited movies in the streaming scene. The audience had to wait longer than usual to access this movie from the comfort of their house. Unlike most movies, this movie didn't make its digital debut after four weeks of its theatrical launch.
As Por Thozhil continued to attract the audience to cinema halls across the south Indian states, the producers delayed its digital release to maximise the box office returns. The buzz is that the blockbuster thriller is getting ready to become available for streaming on August 4 . An official confirmation on the same is awaited. The movie will release on SonyLIV.
Ashok garnered appreciation for his fish-out-of-water performance. As a rookie cop, Ashok's Prakash is set to assist the veteran cop Loganathan, played by Sarathkumar. The ever-grumpy Loganathan is hard to please and Prakash's phobia makes his job even harder. Helmed by debutant Vignesh Raja, the movie follows two cops, who are in pursuit of a physiatric serial killer on the loose.
The movie also stars Nikhila Vimal, Nizhalgal Ravi and late actor Sarath Babu in key roles.
