Veteran filmmaker Sibi Malayil is all set for the release of his comeback directorial Kothth, which has Asif Ali, Roshan Mathew and Nikhila Vimal as part of the cast. The movie, which had completed its shoot last year, has now been cleared by the censor board.

The film has received an U/A rating from CBFC and the makers took to social media to announce this as well its tentative release date. The film is expected to hit theatres in mid of August 2022.

In an earlier interview with us, Asif talked about what attracted him to sign the film, which marks his fourth collaboration with Sibi Malayali after Apoorvaragam, Violin and Unnam. The Mahaveeryar actor said that he finds films based on current socio-political events interesting. “Sibi sir’s Kothth is a based on the emotions of political murders. The idea is that it affects the family more than the party,” he said.

The film has Asif playing a political worker and going head-to-head with Roshan. Koththu, which also has Sudev Nair and Anu Mohan, is produced by Ranjith. The movie is written by Hemanth Kumar.

Roshan had also talked to OTTplay about how working with a veteran filmmaker such as Sibi had helped him. The actor said that he tries to find a positive aspect about working with the director. “On my first day of shoot, I go with 100% trust in my director and within the first week, I try to understand his or her working style. After that, I try to bring in the collaborative process,” he said.

Roshan, who was last part of Vysakh’s Night Drive that is streaming on Netflix and Manorama Max, will next be seen in Alia Bhatt’s Darlings, which is set to release next week on Netflix. The actor is also part of Biju Menon, Nimisha Sajayan and Padmapriya’s Oru Thekkan Thallu Case, which will hit theatres during Onam on September 8.
