The long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) was created by Asit Kumarr Modi, who recently discussed the emotional burden that actors experience when they leave the popular show. In an interview, he discussed the departure of key cast members, his personal relationships, and the difficulties of leading the series for more than 17 years.
While the audience may respond emotionally, Modi told Indian Express that they must respect the decisions of the actors, reflecting on the departures of numerous important TMKOC actors. Modi said it hurts when someone leaves after working together for so long. Kavi Kumar Azad, who had previously played Haathi Bhai, died after a long illness. Ghanshyam Naik (Nattu Kaka) is another character who he has soft memories of. Things would have been more enjoyable if he had remained. It was the way some exited the show. They had second thoughts about doing the series after COVID. What happened to a couple of others is a mystery to him. He asked, "What was the misunderstanding that they left?"
The producer stressed that there have been challenges throughout the show's run, particularly in terms of talent retention. Maintaining everyone's commitment and keeping the show running smoothly for 17 years has been a challenging task. Modi has persevered and experiences heartbreak each time someone departs. The more they imagine them in a story, the more they adore them. He continued, "If we don’t love the character, why would we prolong them in the story? And when a new person replaces them, the audience gets upset too."
People have remained loyal to them for as long as 12 or 15 years. Several people left the show in the middle and later returned. Let the past remain the past; they accepted them. He usually thinks about the show first. Even Modi, too, is not above the show.
Additionally, he recalled that Kush Shah, who had previously played Goli, had to depart for educational reasons. They said a heartfelt goodbye to former Goli Kush Shah before he left for further studies. Since they had such a wonderful time, they even became tearful. Nighttime shooting was occasionally an option and they shot for ten nights in a row during GPL.
Former Sodhi actor Gurucharan Singh has been in the news recently for personal reasons, but Modi has addressed these worries by saying that he is in touch with several of the cast members.
His relationships with some people have not ended. Something unpleasant is going on with Singh and his situation saddens Modi. The actor knows he can always come to the producer with any issues; Modi has already told him that. "What will I do harbouring a grudge?" he said.
The message of joy in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is important to Modi, and he is determined to see it through no matter what.
It makes him pleased to know that the show brings joy to people all around the globe. The artists' tireless efforts have yielded remarkable success for the show. The audience must now understand that after 17 years, individuals are free to leave due to their issues. He divulged that the painters had their own motivations for loving the character.
Until he feels better, he will keep the series running. It is OK for everyone who wants to depart. "Just do it with love, and maintain the relationship," he said as his final words.
