Asur 2 actor Barun Sobti on the city Banaras: I loved the city enough to explore more | Exclusive

Actor Barun Sobti, who is playing the male protagonist alongside Arshad Warsi in the latest season of Asur 2, opens up about reuniting with his co-star and why he loved the city of Banaras, where the story of the show is set.

In conversation with OTTplay, the actor was asked about the vibe on the set and the equation he shared with all his co-stars. Barun said, "It was fantastic to reunite with our whole team. This time everything was more collaborative because last time a lot of parts were shot in isolation, whereas this time we were doing everything together. Even though the show was serious, we had our light moments on set in between. The best part of working with Arshad is the jokes in between. He is such a fun guy, really! Not just him, but our whole team. We worked as a good team."

The story of Asur revolves around a serial killer who comes from the city of Banaras and how two people, Nikhil and Dhananjay, as a team, investigate the series of murders to find out the killer. The story is quite interestingly intertwined with Indian mythology and modern society. Keeping the background of the antagonist in mind, the show is extensively shot in Banaras.

Barun shared how, even though he did not get enough time to explore the city, he really loved the vibe of Banaras.

"Yes, I explored a little bit of the city—not extensively, though, because we were shooting throughout. I walked around those narrow lanes, and the city has so much to offer in terms of food. Khaana ek dum zabardast! The waterbody, the boat ride, the ghat, those narrow bylanes—in fact, it is on my bucket list that I will educate myself more about the city and its history and then pack my bag and spend a few days in Banaras. I loved the city enough to explore it more. Banaras khoobsurat hai...kaafi khoobsurat," smiled Barun.
