As the fans cannot stop scratching their heads around the Asur Kali and Kalki saga after watching the new season of Asur 2, actor Meiyang Chang, who joined the cast in the latest season, points out how the mythology and its connection to the present time are so relevant.

Asked if his perspective towards mythology changed, Meiyang told OTTplay, "I think this whole story around Deva and Asura has also become a mirror for society. We put people in boxes as to who is the devil, who is virtuous, and who is an angel, depending on how we are introduced to mythological characters. At least for me, as a child, when I used to read mythology, I read it from my school textbook and comic book. So, everything about Hindi mythology I learned from the textbook. Recently, when I watched a play, I got to know about the second son of Arjun from the Mahabharata. Now, in the Mahabharata I read, there was no mention of Arjun's second son. So, it all boils down to which rendition of the mythology we are reading to know about characters, whether they are bad or good energy. Ravana, for instance, is worshipped in Sri Lanka. I think it is about from which perspective and which rendition of the mythology we are reading."

The actor watched the first season of the show, and he confessed that since then he has wanted to be part of a story that deals with a complex subject with great details and depth.

Eventually, he got his part, and he feels very proud to be acting in a web series that has cult followers.

The show Asur 2, directed by Oni Sen, is streaming on JioCinema.
