The recent Marathi film, Ata Thambaycha Naay, which featured Ashutosh Gowariker and Bharat Jadhav in key roles, is gearing up for its OTT release. The social drama, which is helmed by Shivraj Waichal, released in theatres on May 1, 2025. Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Ata Thambaycha Naay is all set to make its OTT debut on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium this month.
The Marathi social drama, Ata Thambaycha Naay, is set to drop on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on June 28, 2025. Apart from Ashutosh Gowariker and Bharat Jadhav, the movie also features Siddhartha Jadhav, Om Bhutkar, Prajakta Hanamghar, Kiran Khoje, and Parna Pethe in other key roles.
Ata Thambaycha Naay is based on a real-life story. It focuses on a group of municipal workers, who do the essential and yet often thankless jobs that keep our cities clean and healthy. The social drama depicts the tough life of the workers, who have to clean gutters and collect garbage.
It appears that their lives will remain the same, perhaps without any opportunity for change. But in a surprising move, the workers decide to do something truly extraordinary in the film. They choose to go back to school and try to pass their 10th standard exams. Their desire for education sparks a powerful movement, inspiring not just themselves but those around them.
Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who is widely known for his acclaimed movie Swades, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has acted in a very important role in Ata Thambaycha Naay. Last month, while talking to Maharashtra Times, the veteran filmmaker shared several insights about the Marathi social drama.
Ashutosh requested the audience not to watch Ata Thambaycha Naay as a typical money-making movie. Although Swades and Ata Thambaycha Naay have showcased similar social issues, according to the filmmaker, the Marathi movie cannot beat the Hindi drama.
