The popularity of the thriller genre continues to soar in Telugu cinema and the growing success rate of films in this space are proof of it. Some of the most successful and acclaimed films this year - Virupaksha, Maa Oori Polimera 2, Das Ka Dhamki and Her Chapter 1 - have been thrillers and another film is now trying to make the most of the trend - Atharva.

Atharva brings together Karthik Raju, Simran Choudhary and Ayraa in the lead roles while Mahesh Reddy directs the film. The project is a crime thriller produced by Subhash Nuthalapati of Peggo Entertainments while Nuthalapati Narasimham and Anasuyamma are presenters. The film is all set to land in theatres across Telugu states on December 1. The trailer of Atharva was released earlier this week.

The trailer hints at a riveting thriller revolving around a series of crimes in a city and how the ‘clues’ team goes about solving it, while also glancing past their personal lives. The premise is arresting and the crisp trailer promises a film driven by a racy screenplay and slick action scenes. Arvind Krishna, Kabir Duhan Singh, Marimuthu, Anand, Kiran Macha, Shiva Kumar, Gagan Vihari are also part of the cast.

Director Mahesh Reddy assured viewers there’s more to the film beyond the trailer, adding that the performances of Karthik and Simran are intense and lend depth to it. Karthik Raju, while thanking the director and the producer, opined that the film has a new concept, throwing new light on the inner workings of the ‘clues’ team. Simran Chodhary promised a gripping film, adding the director has a child-like mentality.

Director Sashi Kiran Tikka and Keedaa Cola actor Chaitanya Rao were also part of Atharva’s trailer launch event. While the ‘Major’ director felt the trailer piqued his curiosity, Chaitanya, who has already watched the film, said it’s an out-and-out commercial film which takes audiences to a new world. Charan Madhavaneni cranks the camera and Sricharan Pakala is the music director.
