Athiradi: Basil Joseph-Tovino Thomas film wrapped up; Makers to drop a teaser soon?

The filming of the upcoming Malayalam multi-starrer Athiradi has been completed, according to the film's producers. The cast and crew confirmed this with a brief video shot against the backdrop of a college campus.

Fans of Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas are now looking forward to a teaser or poster that offers a glimpse into all of the main actors in Athiradi as filming comes to an end. Both actors' character posters have recently been released by the filmmakers, creating excitement for their movie's premiere. 

In this eagerly awaited movie, the Identity star plays Sreekuttan Vellayani. In the latest poster, he is shown clutching a microphone, with bright glasses and an Eye of Horus tattoo on his arm. Another poster featured Basil as a college student running with a bag against a colourful background in a brand-new avatar. In the meantime, Vineeth Sreenivasan is also a key character in Athiradi. According to reports, he is portraying himself in the film.

When is Athiradi releasing in theatres?

On May 15, this full-fledged entertainer will hit the big screen in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. It was originally scheduled to make its premiere in Onam 2026. It is unknown why the release date was altered. However, it is logical to assume that the movie does not intend to clash with Prithviraj's eagerly anticipated action thriller Khalifa, which is scheduled for release in Onam 2026. But with the new release date, Athiradi will be shown in theatres with Antony Varghese Pepe's Kattalan and Naslen's Mollywood Times.

Alongside Zarin Shihab and Darshana Rajendran, Riya Shibu would portray one of the female leads. Riya played an important part in Sarvam Maya, which starred Nivin Pauly. On January 30, this horror comedy will debut on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium. Kaathal-fame Paulson Skaria and Arun Anirudhan wrote the screenplay for Athiradi, which the latter is directing.
